We had been doing some research on medium SUVs for a while as Anna wasn't really coping with the Mazda with the kids. it also has 166,000kms on the clock so is getting quite high for a main car.
After looking at the specs and comparing them to death we chose today to go and test drive the cars.
We had narrowed the list to:
- Mitsubishi Outlander
- Nissan X-Trail
- Honda CRV
- Subaru Forester
- Kia Sportage
Based on specs the Outlander was a clear winner. We drove it first and we both agreed it would take a lot of beating. The X-Trail drove nicely but it just couldn't match the Outlander on specs. We couldn't quite stretch the budget to the 4wd version of the X-Trail where-as we could get the middle class 4wd Outlander.
The Honda CRV left us a bit cold and the Sportage had fairly limited visibility out of the back window. The Subaru drove very nicely but the interior was very basic and features were not as high as the Outlander. it was also outside our budget despite how hard the salesman tried to convince us otherwise.
We'll miss driving the 323 as it is such a great handling little car, but we may still get the chance to drive it as we are selling it to Anna's sister. So at least it will stay in the family
